TFG is a bipartisan government relations consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC, that represents the largest number of local governments of any firm in Washington. We are searching for a knowledgeable and experienced Grant Writer that is interested in working with a fast-paced, dynamic team to identify and secure grant funding for critical projects in communities across the country.
Under the direct supervision of our Grants Director, this position is expected to have the skilled competencies to address all pre-award grant requirements, from critically identifying relevant funding opportunities to writing and securing competitive grant dollars. It is expected that the majority of the work performed will be conducted independently, sharing periodic updates on progress, and drafts for comment, feedback, and approval for all work products. Candidates must have a demonstrated history in searching for and identifying federal, state and foundation grant opportunities as well as a successful background in preparing all aspects of a competitive grant application.
The TFG Grants Team is specifically looking for candidates that have demonstrated experience researching and securing grants in any of the following areas:
- Economic Development
- Hazard Mitigation Assistance
- Justice and Public Safety
- Parks and Recreation
It is expected that all candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a professional and resourceful demeanor, the ability to work both independently and as a team player, and a desire to take initiative and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
This position’s contributions are critical to helping us achieve objectives such as providing needed water, wastewater and transportation infrastructure; supporting public safety and health efforts; protecting waterways and endangered species; addressing various environmental issues; rejuvenating neglected industrial areas into sustainable, vibrant economic communities; developing economic revitalization plans for blighted cities or neighborhoods; and aiding communities with disaster response and recovery.
Basic Functions and Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
- Investigate and identify prospective funding sources and programs to support the Firms client base.
- Fully prepare and submit competitive grant applications to Federal, State and Foundation funders – this includes assisting with registrations, forms, grant narratives, logic models, budgets, etc.
- Vet and align prospective funding sources with client project priorities.
- Monitor and track the release of funding opportunities.
- Maintain grant calendars for clients.
- Attend, lead and respond to client grant requests.
- Prepare General and Client Specific funding strategy guides.
- Support the development and maintenance of weekly grant publications, grant databases, grant website, funding guides and funding opportunity summaries.
- Other duties as assigned by the Grants Team.
Education and Experience:
At a minimum, candidates will have earned a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates that do not have a Bachelor’s degree will be considered only if they can demonstrate a history of securing competitive federal grants. Preferred candidates will have at least 5 years’ experience researching and writing successful competitive grant applications. Ideally, candidates are available to work full time; however, TFG is willing to accept applications for a part-time position. TFG is currently operating fully remotely with options for hybrid work in-office and remote.
- Accuracy in written correspondence, record keeping and ability to work under deadlines is critical.
