Case Studies

Cumberland County, ME

TFG worked with Cumberland County, Maine to secure a $438,000 Grant to Encourage Arrest Policies and fund an Enforcement of Protection Orders Program after unsuccessfully attempting to secure renewed funds. The award will enhance the County’s Violence Intervention Partnership (VIP) project, and enrich partnerships between criminal justice agencies, victim services providers, and community organizations that respond to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. The grant award will allow VIP partners to provide outreach services to rural victims in Cumberland County, and to help those in immigrant and refugee communities.

College Park, GA

The Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration awarded College Park $332,500 to install several quiet crossings in the downtown core area of the City. The project will dramatically improve pedestrian safety and create a more suitable ambient aural climate for the City’s small business owners. The Quiet Zone will improve the at-grade crossings that bisect the City in this area. The dual benefit of quieter streets and safer pedestrian and vehicular crossings will improve the quality of life for the entire City. TFG found the opportunity, created the agency contact, and provided technical review and support for the application.

Butte County Association of Governments, CA

TFG helped the Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG) secure one of the largest grants awarded in the Federal Transit Administration’s State of Good Repair grant program. The $18 million award will be used to construct the Butte Regional Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility which will allow BCAG to expand transit operations in Butte County, CA. TFG assisted BCAG throughout the entire grant application process including advance preparation for the project, generation of political support, drafting of the grant application, and final review. The award represented the 7th largest grant in the nation and the highest award for a rural community.

Bloomberg: Capitol to Begin Phased Reopening March 28 After Covid Closing

Bloomberg Government reports that the U.S. Capitol complex plans to reopen for the first time since its closure in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will begin reopening to small groups of in-person visitors by March, 28th and to the public by Labor Day.

According to Bloomberg: "The reopening plan will ultimately consist of three phases, with a limited opening of the Capitol Visitor Center by May 30 to take place before a potential full opening on Labor Day.

Some business visitors are already allowed in the Capitol, but as of March 28, the cap will be raised to 15 people in one group. Currently the limit is nine people, according to sources. Staff-led tours will be able to start again, although also limited to 15 people at a time.

Students will also be allowed into the Capitol on a limited basis. Eight groups of up to 50 students will be allowed in Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m."
