TFG Closed Friday to Observe Juneteenth Holiday

The Ferguson Group (TFG) will be closed on Friday, June 18, 2021 in observance of Juneteenth.

Today, President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act (S.475) establishing Juneteenth, which is celebrated on June 19th annually, as a national holiday. Because Juneteenth falls on a weekend, The Ferguson Group (TFG) will join federal offices and close on Friday, June 18th in observance of the holiday. We will resume normal operations on Monday, June 21st.

This week, The Ferguson Group Principal David Hoover brought his over twenty years of broadband experience to a May 18 panel hosted by the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative titled “Federal, State, and Local Broadband Funding Update.” The discussion focused on broadband funding provisions in the recently passed American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act and the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021, which Congress passed in December 2020. Panelists covered programs such as the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s Broadband Infrastructure Deployment, Tribal Broadband Connectivity, and Connecting Minority Communities grant programs, and guidance released in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Interim Final Rule for State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds regarding uses of funding for broadband projects. TFG Monitoring Developments of Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs

On January 27, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under President Trump issued a memorandum titled “Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs.” The directive mandates Federal agencies to temporarily suspend the obligation and disbursement of federal financial assistance while conducting a comprehensive review of programs and awards to ensure alignment with the administration’s policies and priorities. As part of this review, agencies are also instructed to temporarily suspend the issuance of new program solicitations.
