Congress has officially passed H.R. 1, the Tax Cut and Jobs Act. After making a few last minute changes to accommodate Senate rules and procedures, Senate Republicans passed the bill Tuesday night along party lines, 51-48. Today, the House passed the bill with those changes by a vote of 224-201.

Corps Seeking Comment on Existing Regulations for Possible Repeal, Replacement or Modification

In accordance with Executive Order 13777, “Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda,” the Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Reform Task Force is seeking input on its existing regulations that may be appropriate for repeal, replacement, or modification. The notice, which was published in the Federal Register on July 20, lists regulations subject to the review; however, the agency will also accept comments on regulations that are not listed in the notice. For a list of regulations identified by the Corps, refer to the list at the bottom on the Federal Register notice (Docket Number COE-2017-0004).

House Marks Up More Regulatory Reform Bills This Week

On February 14, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee marked up a number of regulatory reform bills, including the "Searching for and Cutting Regulations that are Unnecessarily Burdensome (“SCRUB”) Act of 2017," the "Regulatory Integrity Act of 2017," and the "OIRA (“Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs”) Insight, Reform and Accountability Act." TFG Grants Expands Team with New Grants Project Manager, Dan Miglin

Dan brings nearly two decades of public safety, housing, and veterans’ services expertise to the TFG Grants team.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – The TFG Grants Team is pleased to welcome Dan Miglin as Grants Project Manager. With nearly 20 years of experience as a grant writer, administrator, and consultant, in the fields of public safety, mental health, homelessness, housing, social and veterans’ services, and the environment, Dan is a valuable addition to the TFG Grants team.

Dan comes to TFG with over 30 years of local law enforcement experience in North Carolina. Throughout his career, Dan has researched, written, and/or managed 168 local, state, and federal grants for multiple law enforcement and non-profit organizations totaling over $11 million. Through grant projects he developed, Dan helped establish or strengthen several multi-disciplined community collaboratives to effectively address issues such as violent crime, domestic violence, opioid misuse, and support people re-entering society after incarceration.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University.

TFG Monitoring Developments of Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs

On January 27, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under President Trump issued a memorandum titled “Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs.” The directive mandates Federal agencies to temporarily suspend the obligation and disbursement of federal financial assistance while conducting a comprehensive review of programs and awards to ensure alignment with the administration’s policies and priorities. As part of this review, agencies are also instructed to temporarily suspend the issuance of new program solicitations.
