Congress has officially passed H.R. 1, the Tax Cut and Jobs Act. After making a few last minute changes to accommodate Senate rules and procedures, Senate Republicans passed the bill Tuesday night along party lines, 51-48. Today, the House passed the bill with those changes by a vote of 224-201.

Corps Seeking Comment on Existing Regulations for Possible Repeal, Replacement or Modification

In accordance with Executive Order 13777, “Enforcing the Regulatory Reform Agenda,” the Army Corps of Engineers Regulatory Reform Task Force is seeking input on its existing regulations that may be appropriate for repeal, replacement, or modification. The notice, which was published in the Federal Register on July 20, lists regulations subject to the review; however, the agency will also accept comments on regulations that are not listed in the notice. For a list of regulations identified by the Corps, refer to the list at the bottom on the Federal Register notice (Docket Number COE-2017-0004).

House Marks Up More Regulatory Reform Bills This Week

On February 14, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee marked up a number of regulatory reform bills, including the "Searching for and Cutting Regulations that are Unnecessarily Burdensome (“SCRUB”) Act of 2017," the "Regulatory Integrity Act of 2017," and the "OIRA (“Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs”) Insight, Reform and Accountability Act." Grant Due: FY 2025 Bureau of Land Management Youth Conservation Corps - Bureau Wide

WHAT DOES IT FUND? This program provides participants with opportunities to gain work experience in public lands and natural resources management. Through this experience, youth gain an appreciation for public lands, learn about conservation-related careers, and become the next generation of public land stewards. The BLM Youth Program partners with qualified youth and conservation corps through the Public Lands Corp (PLC) Program to engage individuals between the ages of 16 and 30 and veterans up to age 35, including tribal members to participate in the program. Click here for more information.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? State governments, county governments, city or township governments, public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, Native American tribal organizations, nonprofits with or without a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, and private institutions of higher education are eligible applicants. Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Montana/Dakotas, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Headquarters (for projects national in scope), the National Interagency Fire Center, and the National Operations Center will not be accepting applications.

Grant Due: FY 2025 Lead Hazard Reduction Grant Program

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to assist units of local government in undertaking comprehensive programs to identify and control lead-based paint hazards in eligible privately-owned rental or owner-occupied housing populations. Healthy Homes Supplemental funding is also available to enhance the lead-based paint hazard control activities by comprehensively identifying and addressing other housing hazards that affect occupant health in homes being treated under this grant. Click here for more information.

WHAT DOES IT FUND? The purpose of this program is to fund subgrant programs that support the rehabilitation of historic properties to foster economic development in rural communities. Jay De La Rosa Joins TFG Grants Team as Grants Specialist

Jay further enhances TFG Grants’ innovation initiatives with extensive technical and programming experience

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – The TFG Grants Division is pleased to welcome Jay De La Rosa as Grants Specialist. He brings extensive experience utilizing innovative technologies and programming solutions to support cities, counties, and states across the country to effectively manage grant portfolios.

"We’re so excited to have Jay on board! Jay’s addition to the TFG Grants Division  further strengthens our commitment to excellence and client success,” said Kristi More, Managing Partner of Strategic Development. “His innovative approach to grant management and his impactful work with governmental entities will undoubtedly bring dynamic developments to our client’s grant strategies.”

"I’m eager to contribute to TFG’s mission of driving meaningful change through strategic grant planning and management,” said Jay. “My past experiences have shown me the profound impact that well-managed grants can have on communities, and I look forward to using my skills to further enhance our clients' projects.”

Prior to joining TFG, Jay was Manager of Customer Success at Euna Grants, powered by eCivis, where he served as lead for multiple customers public safety customers. Prior to his work at Euna, Jay served as a Fellow for the Los Angeles County Management Fellowship Program inaugural class where he assisted in the workforce department for youth and adult programs. There, he co-founded a NACO-award-winning youth and adult housing program. Jay received his Bachelor of Arts in government with a minor in German from the University of Texas at Austin and his Master of Public Administration with a focus on public sector leadership and management from California State University at Northridge.

TFG Monitoring Developments of Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs

On January 27, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under President Trump issued a memorandum titled “Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs.” The directive mandates Federal agencies to temporarily suspend the obligation and disbursement of federal financial assistance while conducting a comprehensive review of programs and awards to ensure alignment with the administration’s policies and priorities. As part of this review, agencies are also instructed to temporarily suspend the issuance of new program solicitations.
